Industrievereinigung für Lebensmitteltechnologie und Verpackung e. V. (IVLV) (Industrial Organisation for Food Technology and Packaging)
and Forschungsgemeinschaft für Verpackungs- und Lebensmitteltechnik e. V. (FoGe) (Research Group for Packaging and Food Technology)

The non-profit orientated Industrievereinigung für Lebensmitteltechnologie und Verpackung e. V. (IVLV) provides its funds for industrial collective research. It exclusively supports scientific purposes of research and development about food and other products such as pharmaceutics, cosmetics and technical goods and their packaging.

Our special aim is to support small and medium sized companies research and development. As a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen e.V. (AiF), i.e. Working Association of Industrial Research Organisations, we are entitled to apply for funding and obtain research funds from the German Federal Ministry of Trade and Commerce. Together with our partner organisation FoGe we generate further funding.

Main areas of research are:

  • Safety and improvement of quality of packaged goods, primarily food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals by development of new methods and processes or further development of existing ones
  • Interaction between packaging and packed goods
  • Development of new and improvement of existing packaging technology with respect to packed goods - machinery - packaging materials
  • Chocolate - technology

Today there are more than 130 small, medium sized or international member companies in the IVLV out of 9 European countries. Several of the big and international companies are additionally members of the FoGe and support through this in a special way the combined efforts of the small and medium sized ones.

As important as the work in the project teams is the opportunity for exchange within the working groups and in seminars. Therefore we offer participation in such seminars or workshops for reduced fees for members to bring the research result to the market.

We also see the possibility for our members to form under our umbrella special national or international research groups for the one or other special topic.

Our research partners are mainly Fraunhofer Institutes with their strongly industry related research activities but there is co-operation with several university institutes as well. On each decided research project the research partners work together with an industrial project team formed by our member companies.
